Junior programs at Northern Golf Club are designed to give children between the age 7-14yrs a perfect start at learning golf the right way. The Junior program is a path way for juniors to become a member and play competitive golf at Northern GC. They are run during school terms on Sunday morning and Thursday evenings after school.
There are 3 levels juniors will progress through to become a Cadet at Northern GC.
Level 1 – Beginner
Key learning outcomes
- Safety
- Grip, Stance & Balance
- Basic swing technique and set up for, Driver, irons, putting
- Introduction to short game
- Skills test
Level 2 – Intermediate
- On course safety
- Introduction to scoring and on course etiquette
- Rules
- Advanced swing techniques for driver, irons, wedges
- Putting – reading greens, distance control
- Short game techniques, pitching, chipping, chip n run, bunkers
Level 3 – Advanced – Cadet Program
- On course play, scoring, etiquette, rules
- Competition scoring, stableford, par, stroke
- Skills testing, swing consistency , scoring ability, course discipline
- 9 hole competition Saturday PM – score 55 or better
Cadet Member
Northern Golf Club Cadet Membership a path way for juniors to progress from the academy to playing competitive golf. Cadets, once they have passed the advanced component and are deemed mature and competent to obtain a handicap and play out on the course.
Cadets will receive the following:
- Cadet Polo & Hat
- 1 small free bucket of balls every day
- Access to golf course everyday after 3:30pm
- Official Australian Handicap
- Weekly competitions on weekends
Parents will be able to play with their Cadet at no charge everyday after 3:30pm. Cadets must wear their polo and hat every time they come to the course and parents must adhere to the dress regulations.
